So like FireRed and LeafGreen which were the Green and Red version remakes. There is now finally going to be the Gold and Silver remakes.

Well, hopefully. The fact that the balls are coloured individually, rather than being generic Poke Balls, and they are coloured in gold and silver, and the various hints that such remakes may happen (such as location data for Johto being in D/P), points to Gold and Silver remakes rather then, say, Pokemon Snap 2.

Of course, this raises the possibility of Ruby/Sapphire remakes. I for one fail to care about that, since I can still play them (unlike Silver, which died on me) and Hoenn was a lame region, IMO.

We can hope so. Pokemon Snap 2 would be nice but I prefer Gold and Silver remakes over it.

I do actually like the 3rd Generation. 4th Generation is where it got ridiculous, there is no way they could invent a 5th season, how the hell do they make more legendaries that are stronger than Arceus who is supposedly the god of all Pokemon?

Oh but no remakes of Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald please no. They don't feel that outdated in fact so why should they get remake them for the DS when you can still battle with Diamond and Pearl along with Platinum? They could just think of other Pokemon games to make instead. Like another Pokemon Stadium.
